About us

Helping people decide which calls to answer

What we do

Who Rang is a community website that helps people identify unknown callers and avoid nuisance and scam calls.

Sales calls, scam calls and silent calls are part of everyday life. We built Who Rang so people in the UK can check an unknown number and share what happened when it called them.

Who runs the website

The website is run by the operator named on the Legal notice page. We are responsible for running and developing the platform and for handling complaints about content.

How the content is created

Number pages are built from two sources: real activity data (how often and when a number is searched, statistics for its range) and reports and ratings added by users. We do not invent authors – all editorial content is published by our editorial team.

Report rules and moderation

Reports come from users and are published without prior moderation. Unlawful, abusive or defamatory content, personal details of other people and spam are not allowed. We remove such content when it is reported to us or when we find it.

Reporting inaccurate or harmful content

If a report is untrue, unlawful or infringes your rights, email opinienumer@gmail.com. We usually review complaints within 72 hours on working days and remove content that breaks the rules.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. If you search for a number we don't have yet, it is added automatically and you can then add a report and a rating.

You can add one report per number per day. This keeps ratings reliable and stops spam.

We only collect what you type in (a nickname and your report). You don't need an account. We don't store your IP address – only an irreversible hash of it, used to stop spam.

  • Negative - average rating below 2.5 (scam, fraud)
  • Neutral - average rating from 2.5 to 3.5
  • Positive - average rating above 3.5 (safe number)

If a report breaks our rules (spam, abuse, personal details), email us at opinienumer@gmail.com. We will review it and remove content that breaks the rules.
