Terms of use Who Rang

Effective from: 17/09/2026

1. Introduction

  1. Welcome to Who Rang. By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.
  2. Who Rang helps people identify unknown callers. Users look up numbers, add reports and rate numbers for personal, non-commercial purposes in line with these terms.
  3. These terms set out how the website works and the rules for using it.
  4. We may change these terms when the law changes or when the website changes. The current version is always published on this page.

2. Definitions

Terms – this document.

Website or Service – the service provided online at https://whorang.co.uk under these terms.

User – any person or organisation that uses the website.

Privacy Policy – the document that explains how we process data.

Phone number – a number from the UK numbering plan that may be assigned to a subscriber.

Report – a user's own account of a call from a number. The user who posts a report is responsible for its content. Reports are not moderated before publication.

3. What the service provides

  1. The service provides a phone number search, and lets users add numbers, reports and ratings.
  2. Users add reports based on their own experience. We do not verify the numbers or the reports, which reflect the personal views of the users who post them.

4. Your responsibilities

  1. You must use the website lawfully and in line with these terms.
  2. You may use the website for personal purposes only, not for marketing, advertising or other commercial purposes.
  3. You must not use the website to harm others, including by posting content that is defamatory, abusive or infringes anyone's rights.
  4. You are responsible for how you use the website and for the content you post.

5. Our liability

  1. We are not responsible for incorrect or unlawful numbers, reports or ratings posted by users. We do not verify them.
  2. We are not liable for loss caused by a user's own actions or omissions. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
  3. We do not create or choose the reports users post and do not edit their content.
  4. We do not check reports before publication. We provide the technical means for users to publish them.
  5. If we receive a valid complaint or an official notice that content is unlawful, we will act on it, which may include removing the content.
  6. The website may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content or availability.

6. Phone numbers and personal data

  1. The Who Rang database contains numbers from the UK numbering plan.
  2. We do not link numbers to the names or addresses of the people who own them. A number can become personal data if it is combined with information that identifies a person.
  3. If a number belongs to you as a private individual and a report contains information that identifies you, contact us and we will remove that information.

7. Adding reports and ratings

  1. The website helps people decide whether to answer an unknown number. Reports should briefly describe the call, for example "Sales call from XYZ" or "Parcel delivery from XYZ".
  2. You are responsible for what you post. Do not include personal details of private individuals and do not use offensive language. Posting false allegations or harassing someone may expose you to legal liability.
  3. You must not post reports that:
    • Are intended to harm a competitor
    • Contain names or other personal details of private individuals
    • Contain offensive language
    • Are defamatory or abusive towards people or companies
    • Are intended to escalate disputes
    • Contain advertising or hidden promotion
    • Are deliberately false, malicious or misleading
  4. By posting a report you confirm that you have the right to share it, and you allow us to publish and display it on the website.
  5. If a third party brings a claim against us because of a report you posted, you may be responsible for the resulting losses to the extent permitted by law.

8. How numbers and reports are managed

  1. The Who Rang database is built by its users, who add reports based on their own knowledge of the numbers.
  2. Because reports come from users, some may be inaccurate.
  3. Reports are not moderated before publication.
  4. All reports are posted by users, who are responsible for them.

9. Removing reports

  1. If you believe a report is defamatory or infringes your rights, email us at opinienumer@gmail.com. Include the phone number, the text of the report and why you think it should be removed.
  2. We remove reports that:
    • Are offensive, abusive or obviously untrue
    • Contain personal details such as a name, address or National Insurance number
    • Together with the phone number could identify a private individual

10. Intellectual property

The website, its design, logo and code are protected by intellectual property law, as is all content except user reports. Users keep the rights to their reports.

11. Final provisions

  1. The website contains the personal views of its users. We do not guarantee that this information is accurate or reliable, and you use it at your own risk.
  2. You may use the website as a source of information. You may not use its content commercially or access it with scripts or automated tools without our permission.
  3. We may change these terms. Each version shows the date from which it applies.
  4. These terms are governed by the law of Poland. This does not affect any mandatory rights you have under the law of the country where you live.
  5. We are happy to try to resolve any dispute informally first.
